When hooked up to the scanner i get errors on the following modules.

Steering wheel module
Accessory electronic module
Suspension module
Steering angle sensor
Anti lock brake system

Dont know where to start with this thing i need to get awd working

I have not dealt with this on an XC70, but have on an XC90. I would start by looking at every module and check connections and look for signs of water intrusion. Other than the AEM - the rest of the modules are all related to the AWD system. So if one goes down it takes out the rest.

Which scanner did you used? Did you try the onboard diagnostic (it may add some insight)? VIDA maybe more helpful for figuring out which module is having the issue - as the system is connected together one fault takes out the chain.

Best place too look for now is at the physical modules to see if you find any clues. Also - when did the fault surface - any details would help.

If you're having trouble with AWD you need a scanner that can acess the DEM module which is located on the rear differential assembly.

Vida/Dice mated to a Windows laptop is the easiest system costwise for a DIYer to access.

I bought the car with a blown motor so i had the motor replaced. And all this is on so i can't tell if it was something we did or was on previously. I used a buddys mentor touch scout to read the codes. I attach pics of all the things i read. Also i could overlook most the other things as long as i could get awd. Is there anyway to bypass it and just have full time awd.

First does the engine run and does the car drive? Any comments on these items would help.

Did you clear all the codes? How is the battery? Fully charge the battery, clear the codes and see what comes back. Some of the codes may be from a dying or low battery.

Also try running the onboard diagnostic and report what errors it reveals.

Report back either way.

Car runs and drives fine. I just put in a brand new battery in it last week. I do need to swap the alternator because the one on it is from an 04 and the car is an 05 so the regulator is for the wrong year and it throws the battery light.

Did you clear the codes after the battery replacement? Were the new codes all the same?

This will tell you high level whether the computer is able to talk the the various modules. It is a starting place.

I would get that replaced pronto. When I picked up my '08 S60 it would drain the battery in a couple of days just sitting around. It also had that battery light you mentioned (charging system service required). When poking around the engine bay on a quiet evening, I noticed a teeny buzzing sound from the alternator area, which stopped when I pulled the negative cable from it. That stopped draining the battery. I found a sticker on the alternator, and it was pre-2005 version. I can't say if the regulator got damaged because it was the wrong model, or if it was just bad on its own, but my anecdotal evidence suggests that wrong alternator can cause a serious battery drain.

The wrong regulator can disturb the Canbus signals. I doubt all those codes will return with the correct regulator once cleared .

Can i just put a regulator on it or do i need a whole alternator
