The existing relay 9441158 tested OK for resistance and continuity when cold. What happens to relay when engine temperature is hot, unknown.

Wet and relatively warmer morning, test drive started normal with 25-40 miles zone, DIM read ENGINE SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED. The Limp Mode triggered after crossing 10 miles on tripmeter, DIM added 2nd message ENGINE SYSTEM SERVICE URGENT.

Curious, pulled over and let the engine idle and struggle. Opened the hood, engine is HOT but radiator fan is not running. There was visible wetness moving down the radiator -- from where the small long hose connects above the radiator and travels to expansion tank reservoir -- white residue along the end fins.

along this side of the radiator:

Drove back home, plugged DiCE while engine idles. Pulled Vehicle Information to look for DTCs. Engine temp was fractions below 97ºC -- radiator fan is not running. Updated DTCs are ECM-9180, 959F & 903F.

Freeze Frame shows 0km/hr for ECM-9180 & 959F, 63km/hr for 903F.

I'm able to start/stop radiator fan from the VIDA Controller at speeds 100% & 25%. The 50% speed only takes START prompt.

I have not been able to start the engine since turning it OFF -- it cranks.

Not sure if I am any closer to finding the "fault"?

They are all throttle codes. Use the search function in Vida to verify. A DIY contactless conversion won't fix that throttle.

Try BBA Reman for a cheaper solution. I contacted them recently on their eBay site and they verified that for $150USD they would repair throttles and fit a contactless conversion.

EDIT:

Just recalled your P2 takes the MM ETM, not the Bosch ETM.

Just deleted the Bosch ETM sale price.

I paid for the XeMODeX repair-and-return service on my '01 V70 2.4T ETM, when at the time FCP was reselling it for $344.99. It appears FCP is no longer doing this, so the price direct from XeMODeX $489. :-( However, the quality of their rebuild is top-notch if you can spring for it:

Ordered the Repair Service, BBA emailed a FedEx label for shipping the box with ETM inside.

Removed the fresh air hose to the air box. Unscrewed the charged-air hose connection and moved it off to the side. Unplugged sensors and connectors to radiator fan. Pulled up the radiator fan and set it on the floor. Unclamped hose to the throttle body.

Reached down and snipped the zip-tie to free ETM wire, and found ETM connector slid off of ECM connector -- insert WTF here.

Took next hour to put everything back together. Connected battery and plugged in to the trickle charger. Fault Trace on VIDA/DiCE neither show DTCs ETM 9180, 959F nor 903F. There are NO DTCs to-and-from components on FMA2 Relay.

High winds and tornado watch has been limiting past few days. A test drive this weekend and then a victory tap.
Yes it was, a request for refund is in works.
