V70 1999 Coolant Light comes on dash

Just had my timing belt replaced by Volvo dealership. They told me the coolant light came on and they said it would be $100 to replace the coolant bottle and sensor.

The coolant light has been on for several weeks now but I didn't want to spend another $100 after the cost of the timing chain replacement. The coolant bottle is full and engine temp normal when running. I recall the coolant light coming on before the repair, coolant checked out OK and no overheating. The cost of a sensor is$25 from an online volvo parts. Why should the bottle and sensor be replaced for $100? Sensor something I could replace easily?

Yeah, easily. Do it yourself and save the $$

This just happened to my 2000.
I wiggled a screwdriver in the overflow tank to un stick the float and all is well for now.
As long as there are no cracks in the plastic tank (common) and the car is NOT overheating (needle stays at 3:00 on the gauge) not an emergency at the moment)
