removing fan shroud out of xc70 2007

Post by volvomadness »

Volvo engineering at its best. Trying to clean out my throttle body.

So following instructions and removing the fan shroud first.

Have done this numerous times on s60 and s70 and 850 but xc70 design is crazy.

One side easily comes up but the passenger side of the fan is bolted to the radiator which obviously the bolts are rusted.

No way of getting a wrench on the nut holding the radiator to the fan.

Has anyone encountered this and has a solution.

Thanks Madness

With the intake manifold still mounted I dropped the throttle twice on my XC70 and never had to remove the radiator fan. Give it a shot. Not all VIDA instructions are necessary.

Yes no need to remove the fan shroud, use a long 10mm socket or a small extender with a 1/4 wrench. I just removed the Throttle intake hose. Fiddly but feasible!
