abs loght on

Abs light is on on my 1995 850se 2.5 estate.What does this actually mean? Brakes feel fine to me,does it need investigating immediately?

Most likely it's your ABS module. (see link) The ABS will not work, there's no other ill affects.

You can get an abs module rebuild for about $80 from bba-reman. I bought their service on ebay, and I sent mine in and had it back in the same week. Works great. The only thing I can say is get the proper socket to take the bolts out. I used a socket that was close and stripped the head. I was lucky to get it out still, but it was very difficult finding a replacement bolt.

I'm not sure about the European version but the US Spec. 1995 has the old style ABS module in it. They almost never fail.

I would start by reading the codes from socket A-3 and then reset them. It could just be a dirty wheel sensor or some other transient problem.
