95 850GLT CD ready?

Post by teamcrossworks »

I own a 95 850 GLT without the optional CD player. I was told the car should be prewired for a trunk unit as the head unit does have a CD button on it. I was wondering if anyone knew for sure and if so what unit would be capatable. I was told Alpine CD changer would plug right in.

the cable for the cd changer is not there, but the head unit is capable of accepting an Alpine MBus cd changer (6-Disc). I put mine under the passenger seat so that I can get to it without getting out of the car... But you can put it in the trunk, if you prefer.

Thanks for the info & quick reply. Is it an easy job to run the cable? Under the seat sounds like a better place anyway. I'm clad I asked before ripping up the trunk looking for the cable.

running the cable is very easy. Took me less than 15 minutes.

Remove your head unit, fish the cable through the opening and down and out the side by the footwell of the side of the car you wish to run the cable (drivers for trunk, passengers for under the seat).

Then stuff it under the trim so it looks all nice and neat.
