The functionality is the same. I changed the wording. It makes more sense to like a post because of the ubiquitous Facebook paradigm. Plus, the button is similar to the FB "like" imagery... thumbs up.
You won't see the button on this post because I omitted General Chat from this functionality. All the car forums you will/do see it.
Just an FYI.

The change in terms considering site content seems more like the intent of karma on reddit, just without downvoting. "Has liked-Been liked" under the user profile reads a bit awkward. The wording conjures up something of a blind match marathon popularity contest night in a S&M club sort of way (in my mind
). I'm not sure the purpose of knowing how many posts a person 'has liked' other than gauging how active they may be on the forum. Not everyone uses this functionality so I'm not sure it's a good metric in that way. Total number of posts is better for this purpose, which is currently shown.
If 'has liked' was omitted 'been liked' could be changed to something along the lines of 'total likes received'. The way reddit handles this (using the terms upvote and karma points) makes more sense when the counts are cumulative between different posts as opposed to facebook where the count "x number of people like this" is attached to a specific post/comment.

While I agree the functionality is something used only by some and the metrics shown in the profile doesn't really say too much I think it's neat to have away of saying +1 without having to post with no additional content than "me too".

I’ll change it back. I’ve been making missteps lately
At best, I’m not even 1% of the page views and interaction here.

Back to stock. I'll get back to gathering opinion before changes. Thanks for your input.

IMO Thanks is more meaningful then like. Thanks indicates the reader found the information useful. One could like something for a large variety of reasons.

'Like' or 'Upvote' rather than 'Thank' probably encourages more interaction if that's the goal.
That's likely one of the goals of facebooks like button: gives people a way to interact without multi post 'redundancy' when readers don't necessarily have some new thought to add.
I would probably go more for a model/terminology more like reddits. They could have easily followed the social media pack and used 'like' but somebody there recognized the minor difference in semantics made a little more sense for what's going on there. If I were you I'd look at synonyms for 'like' and work backwards to come up with something that works in place of 'has thanked/been thanked'. At a glance, synonyms along the lines of applaud/approve/compliment might fly nicely on a V O L V O help/general information community such as this.
