I bought a five year alignment warranty from Pep Boys for $129 (before they offered lifetime). It has definitely more than paid for itself. I pretty much get it aligned every 3 months.amblerman wrote: ↑23 Apr 2019, 11:51 Last week all I did is take advantage of my lifetime alignment . .It was out and now it's not.
Steering wheel is nicely centered again. Which , feels strange after driving for a few months with it being a a few degrees off.
Oh and I also switched from winter to summer tires before the alignment . It rides a bit quieter now.
What did you do to your Volvo today? Topic is solved

While looking through a pile of angle iron in my shop I came across a piece of .75 x .75 x 72" hollow tubing and thought it could be used for the belt tensioner on '94 850, I sort of doubted if the thickness would hold up (16g). Cut a piece 1.25 long worked perfect. I know a million ideas have come up with for this, but I think this even beats
2 quarters. Lowes $17.85 for 6 ft.
72" divided by 1.25 = 57 - $17.85 divided by 57 = approx. 31 cents. Good to have in the glove box.
Now I just have to find 56 other Volvo 850 owners who need one !!!

That’s easy, but finding 56 owners with 31 cents won’t be....Now I just have to find 56 other Volvo 850 owners who need one !!!

After learning the hard way that the '99 XC didn't only need a new starter (it also had a damaged flex plate) and finally deciding against attempting to repair it myself, my brother and I decided to remove some of the easier components to access (AC compressor, alternator, starter, turbo hoses, etc.)
I also managed to remove my first dash, instrument cluster and front seat, which are in much better shape than what's in my daily driver '00 V70.

Crap, Bruno - is that a parts car now or are you trying to unseat me from my King of AC throne??

Ha! Basically, it's a parts car. It doesn't help that the XC AWD is on a pitched driveway, we're still working on the EuroVan, and I've got a T5 that I have yet to tinker with. I was hoping to junk it this week after SWMBO tired of looking at it in our driveway, but I can't seem to find the keys for it. That might give me time to swap the nicer steering wheel for mine.
We also found mismatched coil packs, oil-soaked spark plugs, badly cracked serpentine and timing belts and some other signs of neglect.

Be careful with the two forward facing Torx to release the air bag, they can suck.
