Hi everyone,

New to the forum and new to Volvo ownership. I just bought a 2006 XC70 with 150k and a failed DEM (diagnosed by the local Volvo indy before I bought it). I tested the pump and it seems fine but I want to replace it anyway, along with the filter and fluid. I plan on using the car to avoid putting so many miles on my truck (lots of driving over all kinds of terrain in Maine for work) so I’m trying to make sure the car is as reliable as possible. So, my first question in what I imagine will be an at least moderate list over time is should I cough up the 1k for the Xemodex DEM/pump combo or have many people had luck with a BBA reman DEM and a Dorman pump? Thanks very much; i’ve learned a lot already from searching around the forums- you know your stuff!

Never, ever, ever, ever, never Dorman... unless your fixing it to sell to someone you hate. A car you own and love should have OE, OEM or known better upgrade parts. Dorman does not make any of those.

Thanks, I think I’ll go with Xemodex and an OEM pump, unless there’s an aftermarket pump that you know of that’s as good or better. I’ll probably look around for the pump rather than get it from Xemodex.
