Pushing to finally get my rebuilt 2002 s40 turbo back on the road.
I took the old powerplant/drivetrain and sent it all to the recycler for cash. I bouget a box of parts form a Volvo aficionado who assured me everything he took out of his S40 was in the box. I later bought a transmission and a long block from someone else and took it from there.
Not much left in the box but Volvo part 30819264. Any help is appreciated as far as telling me where this piece goes
Mark.

It is a Heat shield. It goes some place in the transmission / drive shafts assembly.

Thanks! I took a better look and THINK that this covers the intermediate bearing on the passenger side axle. I need to go out there tonight and see. If not...I'll be back
