Part under the battery

Hi, I was inspecting my radiator and I noticed some part with hoses, right underneath the battery. Anyone knows what is it? It's on S70 98 base model, with automatic transmission.

cruise control vac pump. Interestingly these go back at least to the 940. didn't know they were still being used on the 98 cars.

thanks, I assume that nothing is missing on it? I thought that this white opening was missing a hose...

Replaced in the Princely year of 1999 by the sexy Magnetti Marelli electronic throttle ( ETB, ETS, or ETM ) depending on which acronym you like.
