Since I fixed my turbo return line on maybe T5 only the Bavarian Money Waster uses oil in my house now.

That’s takes Group VI oil.....a special blend of Group III and IV that is processed in a Volvo engine for 7500 miles.

If that Wolf's head really is group 4/5 oil, then that is pretty cheap.
That works out to $7.50 a quart which is pretty inexpensive if it really is group 4/5 oils with no group 3.

The same weight oil from Redline on amazon is more than 2x that wolf's head price.

But it does illustrate the wild price difference of the quaker state at <$4/qt compared to the wolf's head at $7.50/qt.
That's why I doubt the "Full Synthetic" really is the same as "100% synthetic".

I even have my doubts about what 100% synthetic means in the context of the US where "synthetic" seems not to mean what we all think it should mean. (in Europe I can believe it means something legally).

In the 1999 judgement it is clearly stated for a product in the USA to be labeled 100% Synthetic it must be a Synthetically produced product. All containing a modified petroleum base cannot be labeled 100% Synthetic. Mobil 1 used to be labeled 100% Synthetic Pryor to 1999. I used Mobil 1 starting with my first brand new car, the 1986 Buick Park Avenue coupe. I was really angry when I found out I was paying all that money and not getting a true Synthetic product. So my 2.9 T6 has varnish consequently even though I changed it every 3K for 13 years... Castrol dealer installed...  :x :!:

I showed the Wolf's Head because it is the Cheapest 100% Synthetic oil on the market. I did my homework and talked to by phone or through e-mail all companies whose oil I considered. Price was not my concern, engine protection was number one. That's how I settled on Redline. In fact I had Amazon deliver me a case at $124 on the road and had the oil changed today. That's about $10 a quart. Note the Redline box in my trunk! June
No doubt Wolf's Head is the cheapest 100% synthetic you can buy. I just ordered 12 quarts for $83.88 total ($6.99 per quart) on Amazon.

The only 100% synthetic I can find locally is Amsoil but it costs $13.16 per quart at NAPA.

As Orange mentioned synthetic will keep the PCV from clogging. Another trick is I let the engine warm up and drop down to 650rpm before driving.

I considered Wolf's Head. Please let us know your experience with it. ie. Smoother running engine, quieter, gas mileage increase, or anything you notice different about your car if any.

My car had a slight gas mileage increase according to the cars dim, engine is noticeably quieter at idle with the hood up, and acceleration felt smoother like the turbos spooled quicker by a second or less internal friction . The last was immediately noticeable driving away from the first Redline oil change. Maby start a thread?! June

Purchased the Rotella T6 for the first time in 2012 for the year round 5W-40 range and because of it's sale price of around $13. Realized it was a Synthetic later as it was so smooth and quiet in the engine so wanted to purchase more and try it in the other cars. I use this exclusively now as the DINO I was using is hovering around $200 for a case of 24.

Costco is selling the Rotella T5 now but Mobil 1 has been it's staple. Try the new Mobile 1 0W-40 when Costco had it on sale for 6 @$29.99. All 3 cars groan and complain when pushed. The 2003 Odyssey's groan so much in the lower end it felt like the main bearings were going to explode. Changed out 2 right away back to the T6 and it's so quiet if feels like the engine is not on at idle. Use to use Castrol as that was what Acura used and may still use. It seemed to break down at around 3K miles back then so have not used it since. I've had the Rotella in the van for around 15K and over a year one time due to busyness and the van felt fine.

Just purchase another 3 bottles from Amazon. The newer bottle no longer have the SN rating though the formulation is the same according to those who have researched this by contacting Shell. Should be able to find some old stock with the SN rating.

My Wolf Head's order got cancelled because their distributor, Motorsports Guys, is currently out of stock. Not knowing when it will be available I ordered a case of Red Line 5W30 High Performance for $124 ($10.30 per quart) from Autoplicity. Including tax Amazon would of cost $141.

BTW. For those people who read this thread and want to try the 100% synthetic Redline, make sure you buy their High Performance line.

They recently introduced a line called Professional Series and it definitely is formulated differently than the High Performance line.
It states "FULL SYNTHETIC -- OEM-required Group III/Group IV PAO Base Stocks"
This line was introduced to specifically target OEM certifications.
https://www.redlineoil.com/professional ... -motor-oil

The line about "FULL SYNTHETIC -- OEM-required Group III/Group IV PAO Base Stocks"' is down in the product details section.
