I have been reading but so far haven't found that one but will look it up and thank you so much. I need all the help I can get.

The TCV is near the air box with 3 vacuum lines coming off it. The connector is attached to the same harness as the MAF sensor connector, just follow the wires and you should find the TCV.

Previous owner installed a boost gauge, bigger turbo, and what appears to be an aftermarket TCV. Lines are crumbling. So I can't say for sure what stock should look like.

An old friend in Canada may have found me a functioning drive line out of an S70 AWD, complete with an M58. Debating if I'm crazy enough to perform an M58 swap on my AWD. An AWD manual sounds great, but is the effort worth the reward?

It depends on whether you value awd or not. With enough added boost it's basically a nice to drive wrx at that point. I am not certain the torque strength of the first gen awd systems. At least strong enough for R power. But then again I would say that it could be very fun hahahaha. Seems like this car is going to have to be your fun car broski

It's totally worth it! It's not too hard to do a manual swap, but a '99 is a little more complicated than an older non-CAN bus P80. I got it done though, so it's not too hard! The main difference is that you have to jump two CAN communication wires and add a clutch sensor. Both very easy to do.
I'm really regretting not keeping the AWD on my R though. Eventually I'd like to swap to an M66, but that's something I'll piece together over time and swap in when I build my next motor. But at this point I'm still sorting out my current motor, so that's a bit down the road!

My T5 is already my fun car, and unfortunately it gets better fuel economy being the fun car than the AWD gets being a FWD daily driver. That slushbox penalty really hurts being in the mountains.

I'm interested in getting AWD back in it so that it can be solid winter commuter, as I'm gonna be spending a lot of time driving up and down a mountain this winter. And manuals just make everything better.

Thread is fantastic, a lovely project with some great progress. I have to ask where on earth the pictures are though! There are several jobs you've attended that would no doubt of interest to others, for which some pictures highlighting the what and how would be useful.

As for manual swapping it, I definitely would - but then I am something of a manual fanatic. You North Americans certainly need more manuals too, if I recall correctly something like 96% of all cars there are auto - dreadful.

I have taken some photos, but they are on my phone and not my computer.

What would you like to see pics of? Didn't think I had done anything super interesting yet.

I had made peace with the car being an auto, but after seeing I'm only going to get 17mpg driving country roads like a grandma, that just won't do.

I have a 10 hour drive coming up in August, and would really like to get cruise control working. Still nothing shows up in ViDA. I believe the brake sensor is working. Wondering if the wires are broken in the turn stock?
