No Oil - Damage? Help 04 S60 2.5T 12,700 Miles

Post by jimabbs »

We just took our S60 2.5t (04 with 12,760 miles) in to Volvo for service. Oil change, rediator flush, some warranty stuff. Drove it home and the next day (42 miles since service) my wife noticed the enging notification "low oil pressure - safely stop" come on. She was 1 block from home so she went home. I checked the dip stick and it showed no oil and no it is very difficult to start. Any ideas what to expect from Volvo? Possible damage? We go back to the dealer tomorrow.

Thanks for the help.

Jim

12,000 miles!
THEY did the service. THEY forgot to either put oil in or tighten the filter. THEY are ultimately responsible.
"Some warranty stuff"? I assume that means it's still under warranty so the onus is on them (and Volvo) but...
I assume you have your receipt if push comes to shove?

JRL is right...I've read this stuff before....dealer forgetting to put oil back in the car after draining it or not tightening things up so that oil leaks out on the way home from the service at the dealer. DON'T DRIVE THE CAR at all...call your dealer and have it towed in if anything. DON'T FILL UP THE CAR WITH OIL...give it back to them in the condition that they gave it to you. Have your receipt(s) ready and also be ready to push for a new engine. If it really drained of oil (or had no oil in the engine at all) and it's hard to start, the damage is already done and no matter what they do to try to make your current engine right, it won't be. DEMAND AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT on their tap. It's their fault and they are responsible. If you get no satisfaction, ask to speak to their regional rep.

Good luck.
