What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today....now sticky!!
Hey boys and girls...I did the same thing that I did yesterday .. but to the R car. I did a complete flush on the trans fluid with 12 quarts of the aisin T I-V a few weeks ago. Today I pulled the drain plug, cleaned the magnet. Added the other half of the bottle of lubegaurd.. put in 3 and a half quarts of fluid. Replaced trans torque mount.

(This was a few days ago, FYI)
An oil change and replacing the passenger side lower engine mount. It was the longest oil change I have ever had to deal with because the previous oil pan bolt had just barely been in there and proved impossible to reinstall. I had to order a longer one.
The most interesting part was replacing the lower engine mount. It didn’t fail in the usual way, instead the rubber deteriorated on each side which allows the engine to tilt back and forward. It made a popping noise at the passenger (right) front on acceleration and deceleration. Accelerate, “pop”, then let off on the gas and “pop” again. From what I’ve seen online, it’s an unusual failure mode. So I figured I’d share. I’ve attached pictures; note the deterioration of the rubber at the sides of the steel the bolts to the engine. I can tilt the mount back-and-forth with my hand.
Cheers,
Bert

Took my newly acquired v70r to the garage to check underneath and all four quarters. Passed with flying colours and even though we were talking and fiddling for over an hour, they still didn't charge me
Advice worth what you just paid for it

New Lemforder front sway bar link on passenger side. The driver's side looked fairly new with a galvanized rod and good bushings so previous owner must of only replaced that one.

Swapped the 13T turbo for a 16T turbo and also made the change to an external CBV/Diverter Valve. I swapped over the wastegate actuator from the 13T, so it still makes 0.5-0.6 BAR, but it feels a lot more potent.

For an external DV, I used the first hose from the intercooler exit and made a 25mm connection. I used a Bosch 710p diverter valve, which has a 25mm inlet+outlet.

I finally managed to fit the right Banjo bolt for the Pcv system, so this is done for all!
Checked the timing belt to see if there was any leaks behind the cams.
To my surprise there is grease on the belt.
Wait!
it's not oil it's grease!
The bearing of the tensioner is leaking.

Removed the rear bumper to replace a faulty backup sensor. REM-4F45 diagnosed the far right backup sensor was broken. Removing the rear is a PITA compared to the front bumper! Had to drill out the rivets so might of never been removed. Popping the black inner panel off the bumper was also a headache.
Volvo wants $90+ for each sensor so I got 2 aftermarket ones on Amazon for $11.89 each.

Could it be grease from the nearby CV joint ? Which brand the tensioner ? I put a Dayco kit and boy it didn't last. The belt was almost in pieces after 20000 km, the roller was throwing grease right from the start, the tensioner was running dry too. Also careful if the water pump was replaced with anything but Aisin
