I like those summer days

It is not the grease from the CV Joint, the axle shaft is in good shape.
The timing was done 40000 km ago. Water pump is genuine and by the look the tensioner and the roller seems Oem. Very early defective parts! I will change the whole timing kit with the water pump and the hoses by mid July.

Just had all the carpets cleaned in my 2002 V70 NT wagon. PO must have lived on a farm or dirt road or something. Lotta mud came out.. now it's fresh and clean. I cleaned the rest of the interior with " tuff stuff" ..a bucket of water and a microfiber. Now it looks like it just came out of the factory. But alas... I've loaded it all back up with my equipment.. back to work.!!

At long last got around to expelling the back guard, I obtained an opening saw and bored out the 4 gaps expected to introduce the back park sensors I purchased a few months prior and had painted to coordinate the guard and steered their saddle to one side back REM region.
I presently should simply introduce the dash switch and take it to the seller for some product to instate the framework (appt. one week from now).
The recreation center sensor controller took all of 30 seconds to connect and mount after we found the extremely covered outfit under the taillight)!

Changed rear shocks. Surprised how simple it was. Have a small oil leak so I did an oil change and replaced the oil drain plug.
Bottom is soaked with oil but it doesnt appear to come from turbo return line. There is a small block thats attached to the rear of the oil pan that could be a the source.. what is that?

Next project is sunroof not working 90% of time. Guess I'll try replacing the batteries in the alarm siren to see if it resolves that.

The block is the “ biscuit “ style oil cooler with two Orings leading to hard pipes in the pan.

If the right side of the engine, towards the rear of the car, is oil covered , it is more likely the cheap turbo oil return line thick fat oring, though. The biscuit oil cooler Orings are easily changed. No need to drain oil from car

Good News: Replaced 4 of 5 engine mounts in my 2006 V70 (saving the rear for when I install a new steering rack) and installed new brake rotors. Less engine vibration for sure. The front mount didn't give up as easily as it did in the FCP video. Had to remove the bracket it bolts to in order to get it out and spent a good 30 minutes trying to get that bracket back on.

Bad News: It would appear that I have a speed sensitive rack (on a base wagon!) and the non-speed sensitive rack I ordered off eBay showed up today:) Sadly, it's pristine. I'm assuming that what I'm pointing at with the arrows indicates the SS rack.

Thank You. I'll replace all 3 o-rings (2 oil "biscuit" and the return line) Leak is very minor but I dont like my cars to leak anything.

Ok, it was yesterday, but replaced the transmission buckle mount, oil and filter change and ATF drain and fill to Ruby Red (2004 XC 70). Shifts like butter now, not that it was bad before, after a 2nd drain and fill since acquiring back in December 2018. ATF still dark (I know, I know, it's only the second drain and fill). Hope to do at least one more before the end of the summer.

Oil this time around was Castrol 5 W 30 Edge high mileage. We'll see how it goes. Buckle mount could definitely used to have been replaced, but it wasn't an essential fix at this point.

....Rain-X the glass and headlights .....

I'd strongly advise against rain-X on the plastic lens'd P2 headlights. Sure, you'll have water bead right off them temporarily, but in time there's an adverse chemical reaction between the rain-X & the plastic & eventually you will be left with pitted, cloudy, gross looking headlight lenses. I know the P2's with the glass (replaceable) diffused lenses are impervious to this, plastic lenses are far from impervious, sadly. I do not know if the lenses are replaceable on the plastic lens'd lights. Sorry for the bad news
