850 OEM axles ?

Post by GlennG2759 »

Is there any way in telling if the axles that I just pulled out of '94 850 are OEM (i.e., stampings)? They do have the large axle nut 36 mm, where the replacement axle nut was much smaller. Car has 179k and so far everything that I've replaced was original to car or OEM.

Unless the CV joints are loose, don't replace those axles! It is really difficult to get decent quality replacement axles. The factory axles can easily go to 250k - 300k, you just need to replace the CV boots if/as they age and crack.

The reason I would like to know if their OEM is that I'll give them to somebody who might need them. I don't want to give away remans. If they are OEM anybody in my area iis welcome to them (free). Hopefully by the time the ones I put in go, I will have moved on to the 2004-2007 V70 with low mileage I've been on the hunt for. I post a picture.

My guess: Drivers side looks like it might be original, passenger side doubtful due to the finish color and deterioration.
