I could use some ideas, here. I have code for a large leak in the evaporative emissions system which I am having a bear of a time troubleshooting. Various years and (perhaps) body types have completely different systems. My car has the one where there is a canister in the left front fender behind the inner fender liner. I have had that apart and replaced the hose and checked that area rout pretty thoroughly. I have a couple of the three-inch hoses with different diameters on each end, although I will admit that I am not even sure there should be one on my car.
I have a home-made smoke tester that will push smoke through a line and show where leaks may be, but I am not sure where to hook it up considering all of the valves and solenoids and other mysterious components.
If anyone can give me SPECIFIC information about the system in my 1998 Non-Turbo V70, I would GREATLY appreciate the help. (For example, my system does not have the infamous J-hose...) Of course, this doesn't affect the operation of the car, but the check engine light is on at all times, and I'd like to have it be NORMALLY off so that I get a warning when a real problem pops up.
EDIT: Listed some resources I found after posting this which may make it easier for others to work on this. Heat Index where I live is 108 degrees today, so I'm not out under the car, but I was out there for hours yesterday doing other things in preparation for a long vacation trip to Maine. Car recently went from Philly to Indianapolis and back flawlessly. Not much power in the non-turbo, but it's a tight car that runs well.

I have a '97 855 light pressure turbo wagon so this may not apply to your situation, but I also have the charcoal canister in the left front fender so there may be some similarities. Here are the other parts of my car besides the charcoal canister hoses that have failed and caused an evap code:
the evap purge valve mounted on the left side of the radiator
the rubber tubes connecting to the roll-over valve near the fuel filter
Good luck!

I have a 98 V70 NA and found the rubber connections around the rollover valve had rotted and needed replacement. As jreed mentioned there is an evap purge valve mounted on the radiator and connected to the vacuum tree by the manifold. I've had to replace the rubber and tubing there multiple times.
I now have a senior exemption from the annual emissions test as long as I keep the mileage under 5K so I've felt no urgency to fix one of these when it shows up. I guess there are some advantages to old age.

Les is more.
