1995 850 Turbo - Radio Plug Question

Post by noev70t5 »

Hi guys hoping to get some incite before I have to go out of my way to a salvage yard to rip apart an 850...

Ultimately this is my fault.

My 1995 850 has a SC-816 Radio I put into it, but the car only has 3 main connectors in the back. One big plug with about 8ish wires, small plug with about 6-8ish wires, and a solid black connector with a single metal tip. Someone tried to put an amp that would mess with my other electronics so I figured id try to fix it. After looking at a few diagrams it seems that they had tapped into a consistent power wire for the radios anti theft - and while rewiring it, that wire touched the single black wires connector and I could see it was shocking it. Being arrogant my dumb*ss thought I could do simple quick connects without messing up...

I'm not getting power to my radio now. Everything else works well.

Question: How far do I have to go to get to the other side of the Big plug on the radio harness? What does it ultimately lead back to?

Attached is the wiring diagram: I'm talking specifically about 16/1 - Plug A - Wire #4 (R-SB) [Red and Black]

I want to find the other side of plug A so I can not only check for further damage but to replace that whole section of wiring - When searching I only see things about replacing the plug on the radio side, Id like to aim for replacing the whole thing

Thanks for any info!!

AWESOME lots of learning today.

If your constant power wire behind your radio (black and red wire**) ever touches the antenna wire while doing a wiring job and it grounds no need to worry!!!

Just check the RIGHT fuse. There are apparently 2 different radio fuses on a 1995 850. 32 and like 7. CHECK THEM BOTH

I ripped a plug out of the salvage yard but while I was there I tried to snag the whole harness. DAMN that was alot of work.

Endgame to all of this was that I blew a fuse while working and ended up rewiring everything for no reason. Lesson learned!!!
