Two Questions about 2006 XC70 Aux Socket/Port

I have a few questions about my aux socket in my XC70:

1. I read in the brochure on the volvo website that you could use your iPod to play your own custom tracks. Will it work with my iPhone? (SE)
2. I've tried charging my phone through the aux socket of the car, but it didn't charge at all (and didn't play music either). Is replacing the fuse the best option?

I don’t think the sockets in the car supported IPods in 2006
