So, last weekend, I replaced the starter (and reclaimed my crowbar), plugs (long story short, I thought plugs were the cause of an issue. They weren't, but were at least 15k past replacement and the center electrodes were all but gone), thermostat & temperature sensor (that fixed the issue), and added four quarts of oil (yeah, four). Engine runs rough for a minute when first started, but then smooths out.
Thought I'd replace the burned out driver's side rear brake light. Easy-peasy. Except that the previous kucklehead broke the upper taillight socket the last time, and used a screw and some kind of tar-like adhesive to get it to work. Now, it's a trip to eBay, on my dime, for an intact assembly.
Should have left well enough alone but, idiot that I am, I borrowed the scanner from O'Reilly's and came away with 11 codes, indicating issues with the Evap system (hopefully, just a hose somewhere), the camshaft reset valve (whatever that is), and the turbocharger (those are the ones that really scare me). So, the to-do list now reads (in no particular order):
- Replace the upper taillight
- Replace the right rear wheel bearing/hub
- Fix the evap system
- Fix/replace the camshaft reset valve
- Troubleshoot/fix? the turbocharger issue
- Change the oil and filter
- Troubleshoot the automatic locks, which occasionally lock up the car all by themselves (Daughter has no fob) and refuse to let her in.
- Replace the fuel filter (so Georgeandkira stays off my case!)
Thanks, in advance, to everyone who has, and will, post solutions here!

Trim ring around prdl gear matic. The wood trim piece from the 2006 XC70 trim piece was too long to fit in my dash.so I measured 7.5 " inches to the right.... 8.5" to the left and marked it with a sharpie and pulled painter's tape between the 2 points and cut it with a manual hacksaw.. I don't have a band saw.. good enough

Installed the anti-axle ping axle bolts today. Wow! Picked up the car a little over a 1.5 year ago and replaced the front end suspension components but still had a "clunking" noise. After installing the anti-axle ping everything quiet and feels tight.

I may take you up on that, Empty Nester, if I ever get another opportunity. Took her almost six months to bring it to me for the starter, and by then the hot start issue (thermostat/temp sensor fixed it, I hope) had begun. Praying that she gets an oil change in the next month or two. I haven't done my own maintenance for the last 20 years. Now, I'm just trying to keep her from being stranded.
Daughters! (maybe we need a thread for that)

I had a really deep dent in my hood on my 2004 S60 R. About the size of a quarter, with aluminum hoods being what they are, I found a good clean hood in the scrapyard. 60 $ from a 2006 XC70...no paint, no body work. Just swapped it out. The other thing is...is that my noise dampening panel had a few tears in it and in poor condition, so that's nice and clean too! Rolling on..

I didn't think the P2 hoods were aluminum.

I hope not, because it means I lost all my arm strength last year...
