So I went to the scrapyard at lunchtime and picked up the trim for the glove box from a 2002 T5.. E brake dust boot cover from a correct color 2003 S60.. the handle for the E brake is from a 2006 XC70...and factory mud mats from a 2004 XC70.. that is all.

Washed Ruby Red '04 XC70 and refreshed plastic trim with "Wipe New." Car's appearance is much improved as a result. Should have taken before and after pics. 1 kit is just enough to do all the trim on an XC70.

A co-worker who drives a similar vintage XC70 saw the results and dubbed the product "botox for bumpers."

I installed the front left driveshaft on a 2002 V70 X/C, after cleaning and rebooting, only to find it would not settle into the transmission. Pulled the clamp and new boot off and placed a large pipe on the CV housing and convinced it to go in completely with a hammer. Now I have to find a new large clamp; anyone know where to find the stock style clamps?

Isn't it funny that the car on the box is none other than an XC70?

I've tried the Wipe New, been using the Refinish Restorer lately (cheapest on Amazon ~$27-28/500ml shipped). Both seem to work with about the same level of effectiveness. Aromatic experience is different between the two. Taping adjacent painted surfaces is the most time consuming part.

The "tiger stripes" thing has always bothered me with these cars. I've seen where some of the Chevy Avalanche guys have used a heat gun to restore their black plastic cladding. I haven't given that a shot yet.

Dismantled my PCV system on my '06 V70. Learned taking the PS pump an T-STAT housing is the only way to go.
PCV box had a little sludge buildup at outlets, but I'd guess not bad for 100k. Pipe from top of box to head was broken at the box. Tomorrow clean TB, run some Berryman through injectors, change oil, and button it up. Timing belt next week.
