We have resetted the code, and it turned on after 400-miles, and only once we were driving for a while on the highway with the AC. Typically we drive shorted drives around the city. Both cases the same code returned (P0420). Various people tell me different stories, but most boil down to the same.
Let me try to summarize my questions
1. The error code only shows P0420, bank 1. This does not correlate with any of the O2 sensor. How big is the change that it is the O2 sensor? Should I just swap the convertor?
2. When I bang on the convertor, there is nothing loose in there, nor do I notice anything weird (25 mpg at this moment).
3. We tried to readout the voltage, but could only find one of the sensors. As with question one, is it possible Volvo only reads one sensor?
4. What is the advised plan of attack, as all parts are pretty expensive, I would like to prevent that I install a new part and its something else.
5. Which OBD2 reader is recommend for Volvo?
