To go back to the age old tyre questions, can I fit 205/55/R16 tyres on my 850 or will it rub?

My car is lowered 30mm presently, and the change to 55 from 50 profile will add 10mm diameter to the sidewall height. 50 profile tyres are getting tricky (read expensive) to find in the UK and are limiting in brand and make.

You should be fine, my cousin ran that size on his S70 T5 which is on iPd lowering springs and it didn't rub. I have 225/45R17 on my lowered V70R and it only rubs on full lock sometimes.

on my 94 without bumpstops on the a-arms it did rub. and that was without lowering springs.
I believe that they didn't rub on the S70, because that was the standard size for S70ies, at least for the european market.

Nice! Those E39 audio systems are tricky. My dad's 528iT has the worst sounding stereo ever... makes my SC-901 4x50w setup sound incredible!
I had looked into BavSound upgrades, but they're pricey.

I actually decided not to buy an E39 528 in great shape for 2grand because of that awful stereo. I then got my R instead.
Still, that 528 had a great motor and AT...

Performed the only repair so far this year in about 15 000 km; replaced a rear bulb.

Changed the front brakes on my 2006 Honda accord. While doing that I decided to bleed all 4 corners.
It needed it. Fluid was way darker than I had hoped. Much darker.

While I had everything out, I decided to bleed the brakes on my s70 since I've owned the car for 2+ years and I had no idea when it was done. When I got the car, the pads looked recently changed based on the thickness. The fluid was quite nice looking coming out so I probably didn't need to do it. But it's done and I can stop worrying about that job.

Bleeding brakes on the s70 was easier than on the honda. The bleeder valves are just a hair longer on the volvo which made all the difference . On the honda I was fighting keeping the hose on the bleeder nipple while I turned the wrench. Not so on the volvo.

They're awesome cars, very smooth and they handle great. The autos are alright, but his transmission is in pretty bad shape currently. I've always wished the car was manual... it would make it so much more fun!

Blast, that's annoying. In 205/50/16 the only two premium tyre choices I have are the Hankook Ventus Prime 3s or the Goodyear Efficient grips. I can't get most of the new tyres in a 50 profile (CSC6s/Primacy 4s/PS4s/or most winter tyres). Admittedly, both the Hankooks and Goodyears are very good tyres, but the price hike between profiles is ridiculous. EfficientGrips, for example, are £94 ea in 50 profile or £49 ea in 55 profile.

I feel your pain! Michelin dropped the ball discontinuing the Primacy 3 and XMX4 before having the new Primacy 4 in place. 225 50R17 W is what my car takes. It seems the 55 series has more choices.

Michelin says possible the Primacy 4s will be available in October. So I put the Uniroyal as a cheap alternative as a stopgap set of tires while Michelin takes their time getting the Primacy 4 to market. Imo Volvo sedans perform best with the Michelin Primacy line which was the factory tire for the S80 T6. June

I forgot to mention that I did this with a Motive bleeder system and it worked quite well. (bought from FCP)
