On these sliding calipers I've gotten away with just pulling the caliper hard towards me. That compresses the Piston enough to remove them easily. No need to pry and risk making marks in the rotor.

Is the piston in the caliper is pushed in too quickly and withput the bleeder valve open the seals in the master cylinder might get "turned" or be damaged. Usualy going slow will be enought but upening bleeder is better in that regards but might require bleeding afterwards. Didnt know anything about the ABS that June described, thanks for that info!
