2004 XC90 Fault Code

Post by Breezer68 »

Hi, I’m new to the forum and new to Volvo’s . I purchased a 2004 XC90 a few weeks ago and earlier this week the “ check engine” light came on . I ran a scan and had the P0442 code for small Evap leak. I changed out the gas cap but that didn’t help as it threw the same code again. I have read where people say it could be a “J” hose ,but everything I see is for a C70. Does the XC90 have a J hose .. if so where is it located ?
Thanks !!!

YOu certainly have a similar system on your XC90, basically a can which catches the gas vapored from your tank, and a series of hoses which route these fumes to your engine to be burned.

The best way to get a picture of your system is to put your VIN number into the Volvo parts web store them pull up the evaporative emissions parts diagram
