Shorting out circuit board in dash instrument cluster

Post by dripcandles »

A friend replaced the instrument cluster in his 94 940 non turbo, to fix the intermittent speedo and gas gauge. He put the replacement cluster in and when turning on the parking lights it shorted out and burned a spot on the circuit board. So he put the original one back in and it did the same thing in the same spot. Any ideas on whats going on and where to start?

The only thing I can think of is that the connectors were a pin out causing a short circuit. I have not heard of this problem before - but twice on the same car!!!

Your friend is like me - If he didn't have bad luck he would have no luck at all.
