1994 850 No start [solved, lawnmower syndrome]

Post by Badweed »

Hello and thanks in advance for your help.

I've been working on my son's 1994 850 Turbo. His door was squeaking bad related to a crack in the A pillar, which I fixed with self threading screws... worked like a champ.

When I went to start the car to put it on jack stands for the oil change, it cranks but no start. Battery is good. I replaced the camshaft sensor last spring (less then 6 months)

I'm getting spark from both the ignition coil and the last spark plug passenger side. I didn't test any of the others. When I pulled a couple plugs they looked ok...a little black deposit.

I can hear the fuel pump running when I turn the key and am getting fuel to the rail.

I checked the rpm sensor and resistance is around 300, which I think is good.
I removed the MAF. It looks clean, but still wouldnt start with it unplugged.

I cleared all the codes and tried the ignition again before reading them again.

On the A1 jumper I am getting...

134 Faulty load signal from ignition control module
114 Program selector open circuit or short circuit to supply

I dont know what 114 is referring to?

Is the ignition control module the same as the coil? Would I get speak but no start if it was bad?

What am I missing?

Thank you

Steve

So it turned out to be "lawnmower syndrome." I pulled the plugs and put a wee bit of oil in each....jumped the battery (dead from multiple attempts) and vroom!!! Ran like crap for about 10 mins and now back to normal. Great forum.
