Shrill noise when driving on slushy roads

oh I had this too for about 30 seconds while driving through slushy snow. shame it has nothing to do with AWD, thought it might be a clue as to why my AWD is not working....see https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/chat/p ... 1985#51985

Slushy snow eh! Bin in that a lot, and would put my money on a one of the many tin shields under the car. You could start by going to the area of the noise and crimping a few areas of the shields, or look for a spot weld that has let go. Not recommended but effective, would be to take a ball peened hammer and change their form a bit. :roll:

JRL in a moment of mental blindness I forgot that the driveshaft is always turning anyway, being driven by the rear wheels.

It happened again to my wife today, as she drove through a patch of water.

Looks like I will be heading for my local Volvo dealer ...
