Recently got this in a trade. Put about 2000 miles on it so far, some unexpected expenses came up

You'd think so right? So far I have only been offered trades:
-A 'Super clean, well taken care of' 2003 Hyundai Sonata V6 with 136k miles
-A 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a hemi and 150k miles
-A 2001 BMW 325i e46 with the sport package!!

I politely have declined

I think those trades are good offers as long as the $7500 cash is in the glovebox

Yeah, basically my response.

I would love to pick up a P2 v70 somehow out of this, preferably one in need of some love. Problem is everyone in Portland has a thing for wagons and there are nearly none to be found.

And as much as I would love a facelifted XC70, I don't think I can stomach 18 mpg on a daily driver with my 40-80 miles a day of driving.

I think I would be asking for about 3k for that wagon, no matter what the NADA says. That will sell near there especially with that ad - willingness to meet, etc.

Your $1500 P2 can easily end up at $5k too, of course.

I think 3k is a perfectly fair price for that v70. KBB and CARFAX values appall me. I would love it if P2s around here were cheaper but with IPD so close and the ultra hipster culture of Portland, all Volvos except for p80 chassis are fairly highly valued.
A dealership wanted to appraise my R and valued it at $800 because it has coilovers installed. They showed me the KBB value and the max value for one in perfect condition with under 100k miles was listed at $2800.

I would poop if I found one like that for $2800.

I was so upset. I drove in rush hour traffic to see them, and this was after I called and mentioned my asking price and the guy said 'Oh yeah, we will probably get fairly close to that'.
