My Impact Wrench Is Not Strong Enough

Hello folks,

Since I got this tool, I have never been able to remove any lug nut. I always use a hand wrench to get a lug loose before using this corded impact wrench to fasten the removal or putting back the lug nut. I first notice it when I bought it, it would not remove the bolt holding the car seat belt. I swear, this tool would be as heavy as a Mini Cooper. When I have to do eight or twelve wheels, a powerful impact wrench would come out handy. I would not mind getting me another (better corded) impact wrench.

This is basically the same as yours at 7.0AMP. Friend purchased it for $29.99 when it was on sale about 2 ~ 3 years ago. For something big and heavy it does not work well. I just use a breaker bar to loosen then the impact to remove.

Yep, same with different name.
The Shops use air impact wrenches to remove practically any lug nut, would that be the trick?
And really, I rather use my corded drill with socket adapter to remove the losened lug nut.
The corded drill with the socket adapter is much more lighter than this impact wrench.

Purchased from Costco for $99 a set of 5 air impacts in 1995 similar to the link below. It included an air cut off tool. Used it for over a year while at Pepboys and Acura and had no problems. Air tools can be heavy and cold depending on what you purchase. Used it all day long at Acura not so much at Pepboys.

Unless you are able to purchase a large compressor and don't mind lugging the hose buy a quality battery operated Impact for DIY.

I use the same trick when I replace tires (winter tires) ---> breaker bar to loosen the lugs, then cordless drill with adapter.

I like cordless drill bc it is light.

I did NOT buy the electric impact gun bc of its weight, too heavy for my hand.

I DO have air tools such as 1/2-inch impact (not too heavy), but I hate setting up air compressor (I have a 20-gallon compressor) for a small job like tire change.

Just searched HF website, most of the 1/2" electric impact gun weighs about 7.00-8.50 lbs. Why does it "feel heavy"?

PS: I lift weight on and off, so before you guys tell me to go to the gym, I already do it.

For such air tool, an eight-gallon tank would not be enough, would it?
I tend to keep away from cordless for the sake of battery cost. Saw someone's video on YouTube
with a cordless Impact Wrench that took out a bus's lug nut.

For air tool, 8G compressor is good enough.
You will need around 90-100 psi.

The key thing for air tool: do NOT use the coiled tubing (the yellow coil that usually comes with the air compressor). Use the straight rubber hose: the flow is much better and the tool delivers more "punch" with straight hose.

I wrench by hand, too, where possible. However this tool is still handy when you need to undo nut on crankshaft or Haldex. That says, I barely use it
