Problems with eBay Vadis Service Manual for 99 V70
Problems with eBay Vadis Service Manual for 99 V70
I bought a service manual CD (Vadis) on eBay for my 99 V70. I can't get it to intall on my computer. I have tried two different computers and get the same error message code (1015). The seller is unable to provide tech support. My database admin thinks it's an issue with Windows XP. Anyone have similar difficulties? Anyone know about this stuff?

Make sure you follow their installation instructions EXACTLY or you will have problems. Make sure any anti-virus software (Norton, Wndows Defender, etc.) is turned off before you start. If it/they are not, the software will not install.
The pictures on the installation instructions are mixed up, so do what the words say, not what the pictures show. You'll see what I mean.
When you finally get it loading, it will take up to 30 minutes to download everything off the DVD. The file size when done is about 5GB, so make sure your hard drive has twice that in available space before loading. If you get any message about a script error, just click the option that allows the complete script to run once.
Then, after everything is loaded, log on to the software just like they tell you to, with the login name and password. Then you can set up your own account. Do not lose any of the original info or DVD in case you need it later.
You are right that they offer no tech support. I asked them some questions two weeks ago and still have no response.
If you have a question, come back to this forum, which is very helpful. MIJ uses the software and might be able to answer questions. I'm still learning how to navigate through the data, etc.
Good luck.

Depending on what version you purchased you may need to reset the date on the computer clock. I had to reset mine to June, 2004.

Right, Lee. And thanks. I forgot to tell him that but it is definitely part of the instructions. If you forget to reset the computer back to the current date after the download is complete, all kinds of other, non-VADIS related error messages come up. I know from experience!

Thanks guys. I am almost envious when you speak of pictures. Despite the fact they are wrong. My insructions are spartan. They say the same as you do - reset the date and turn the virus protection off. Which I did. I thought I followed the instructions exactly. If I didn't - I made the same mistake several times. I even created a new account called sysadm (because it said to sign on as sysadm). What about Spybot and NoAdware (both spam and cookie filters)? I didn't turn them off. Where did you get your copies? eBay? Remember the name of the seller? I don't know.. Thanks for your help. I'll keep trying.

My copy came from eBay:
officialservicemanuals Item number 330200006449
They also have an email at:

and at [email protected]
sysadm is the way you sign onto the software the first time you use it, and use their password.
I hope you get it to work.

Sign into "system configuration" first with the information they gave you. Once in, create your own account and log off. Next, sign into "user configuration" with your created ID and PW and decide on your parameters for using VADIS...log out again and then just log on with your ID and PW by clicking on "continue." Hope this helps unless it's the installation you're having trouble with.

Hi, adaware and spybot caused no problems to my install. The actual install is a hefty one though and you have to log in exactly as it says for the first time. My copy of Vadis came from here :- UK eBay item no:- 290198162572 and was installed at first attempt.

I have 2 versions...the earlier version had errors as I installed but I ignored them. After installation, I had to copy an entire folder from the DVD over to my hard drive, but I can't recall which one right off...then everything worked correctly. The later version I used had no issue at all and installed correctly without errors the first time.

Great find! You'll have to have a Torrent Client like "Bit Torrent" Do a search on Google for it. That's what I use but there are several others. I recall that on my first edition VADIS, after the install, I tweaked an INI file and was able to set my clock back to current time and it worked fine.
