Saw some installed on Youtube and this is the best so far. Been looking for a better way as they all seem to angle in.GlennG2759 wrote: ↑08 Nov 2019, 15:11 Iinstalled new ball joints in steering knuckles on my '06 V70. Used 2" by 4" galvanized pipe with cap, worked perfect. About half dozen shots with a 5 lb. hammer and they were home.

I used 1/4" x 10" brass drift pin, using a carpenters hammer and alternating shots on each side. One small pocket on each side is about the only place there is to punch at. If you make some king of holding jig for a vise it would probably only take a couple of shots on each side, I didn't but it would be nice. R & R took about 45 mins. Ball joints weren't that bad at all at 100k but since everything else was new I went with them (Lemforder). Also put them in the freezer for 2 days before, don't know if that helped with the ease of install. I've seen videos not recommending this as a DIY, it's relatively easy job. I've also seen it done while knuckle still in car, this I wouldn't attempt. On to inner & outer tie rod ends. Do you know if Mavis any good with Volvo alignment? Glenn

Today I removed the front passenger side carpet on 2001 V70. I suspected the pad was wet under the carpet and it was. Not socked, but wet on the edge. Left it out to dry and put in newspaper to try to locate where the leak is coming from. I cleaned the sunroof drains last week and they seemed to drain to the ground just fine. I did not get the back carpet up yet. I ran out of time.

Check your AC drain pipe while you're at it volvolugnut. There's a rubber elbow secured by a single, barely cinched zip tie (sometimes nothing at all).

Fourth drain and fill on my 2006 V70 in the last 20k miles (now at 155k). Stretched this one out to 7.5k miles and still a nice red. Next one in 15k miles. Seems like cheap insurance. Steering rack leak seems to have reduced to a couple of drips. Need to rotate the tires next weekend or put the winters on my existing wheels. Was thinking of getting the Harbor Freight manual tire changer to do it, but they're 17's...could be a lot of swearing and no success
