Gauges smell

Post by tunatime »

Hi all have a 850 turbo on my way home today I smelt a weird smell thought nothing of it and carried on I got home about 1km later and noticed my fuel gauge and temp gauge was all the way to red line. I turned it off and it started right back up with the same problem Haha also when I shut off the fuel gauge stays up but temp gauge goes down. I disconnected the battery thinking some wires have shorted out and so far have just left it. Also fuel gauge didn't go down after disconnecting the battery.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Tom

I'd start by pulling the instrument cluster and disassembling it. Maybe this reveals something.
