do i need this speaker-line to RCA converter and to run cables from audio dash unit ?
or
is there a connection through the rear fuse box?
does the amp need to go direct to battery or can iit also connect to the rear fuse box ?

Do you have 3rd row seating?
If not, look in your boot under the floor boards. Supposedly (some (and by some, I'm guessing non-3rd row variants)) 01-04's came prewired for the factory subwoofer Volvo offered. I checked our non-3rd row 06 XC70 before I sold it & it had no prewiring. This parallels what I've read for 05-07's. 01-04's, some had it, some didn't. But 3rd row vehicles couldn't accommodate the factory sub.
My assumption is that the 01-04 non-3rd row wagons came pre-wired, as they could accommodate the amp/subwoofer/enclosure.
I can post a terrible picture of the plug to help you figure out if your vehicle is prewired for a sub.
By the way, the factory sub sounds really good. Most of us here are old & usually if we can hear at all, are listening for engine/chassis noises, or are tuned into talk radio. I am usually listening to the former - nothing but the vehicle. But when I do listen to tunes the factory sub is outstanding & you have no boxes taking up space in the back of the car.

There is also the question of 'activating' the genuine subwoofer in Vida so the Audio unit recognizes it - I'd suppose the aftermarket one will need the same. I've read a discussion about this and you may have a hard time trying to activate it with these copies of Vida - the main dealer will do it if you find one kind enough because most don't touch if you don't buy the part from them.
