98 V70 xc: Problems with air intake/vacuum lines since pcv job
I tried very hard to hook up all the vacuum hoses and air intake hoses correctly after I got the PCV done but I am having lots of idle issues. First my idle was too high because there was a vacuum leak and I sealed that with blue gasket maker. It still ran too high so I finally bought new vacuum line at the auto store and I think the vacuum line was too small so I bought different size. I still have to put that on. Today I ran to the grocery store and the entire trip there and back my car stalled because the RPMs were running so low even going down the road. My car finally stalled just down the road from getting home and refused to go any further even with the throttle all the way down. There was a smell which I could not identify and it was not coming from the engine bay either. I found that the top soft and hard intercooler hose that lead to the air intake were apart from each other. After I connected them I was able to drive just fine but still with a low RPM idle issue. With this said I want to know how all of this relates to the air and vacuum lines and please provide a picture of your vacuum line hookup. I'm looking for a picture of the three lines that go directly into the intake on the front as well as the vacuum tree. I made a previous post about the vacuum tree and was given a link (viewtopic.php?t=63615) with all the hoses but the pictures were not clear to me. I need to make sure my air and vacuum lines are hooked up properly. Please be very clear on the details. I need to get my car fixed very soon.

Yes, all of the problems sound like vacuum leaks. Until all of those are fixed, it doesn't make a lot of sense to explore other possibilities.
For the intercooler hose you showed in the picture, the connection *must* have a clamp and the clamp must be very tight. Any air leakage there will cause problems. Check all of the intercooler connections, they all must have tight clamps. Do they all have clamps or do you need some?
Also in your pics the bottom nipple on the vacuum tree (below the blue silicone) is open to the air. It *must* either be capped, or have a vacuum line connected from it to somewhere else. When open to the air, it creates a vacuum leak.
Also in your pics the top of the IAC hose to the vacuum tree doesn't have a clamp. It needs one, or there will likely be a vacuum leak there too.
Under the hood of you car there is a sticker like the one in viewtopic.php?t=63615. That sticker shows very clearly which hoses connected to the tree when your car came from the factory. It also shows the other vacuum lines on your car.
Using new vacuum tubing from the parts store is a great idea for solving this problem.

I am attaching a pic to this reply. Now I know where the hose on the passenger side of intake manifold is suppose to go but if you look in the pic (I borrowed from deepsouth) you'll see the vacuum tree. The bottom (3rd) outlet is capped on his, but mine had a hose on it, took it off, and now I don't know where that one went. I don't see that demo on that link page.erikv11 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2019, 15:24 Yes, all of the problems sound like vacuum leaks. Hose on passenger side of the intake manifold goes to the PTC nipple down by the turbo.
Does your car have SAS? The open nipple on the vacuum tree is probably for the check valve line, the yellow dotted line from this pic in the thread we keep pointing to viewtopic.php?t=63615

Ok! I finally have that hose hooked up correctly to the vacuum tree. Next I have a pic of 2 loose hoses. The first one is the curved one by the turbo that I have sitting by the throttle body. Does this one go to the IM on passenger side? The second one I found under the air box.erikv11 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2019, 15:47 Hose on passenger side of the intake manifold goes to the PTC nipple down by the turbo.

One of those hoses (pics seem out of order compared to your description)
is connected on the back end of the TCV (turbo control valve). It goes to a nipple the fresh air intake hose. It is hard to see but it is also in the thread we keep pointing to viewtopic.php?t=63615, in this pic left side top right corner
Here is another pic, it is the blue hose

There is a place on the corner of the airbox to hook in the TCV, so it isn't buried underneath there.

1. I need clarification on this because there are 2 hoses parallel/valves next to each other. In pic #1, is arrow #1 or #2 the ptc? I'm pretty sure Robert DIY on YouTube would say #1 is ptc. He mentioned to clean the ptc valve that the PCV hose goes to.erikv11 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2019, 18:33 Yes, the other one goes to the nipple on the passenger side of the intake manifold, you can see that in the thread we keep pointing to viewtopic.php?t=63615

2. In pic #2, arrow #2.1 goes to hose on arrow #2 in pic #1. I recognized hose on arrow #2.1 because I pulled that off of the pass side of IM. But the section from IM to the other end broke, and that's where I think I lost it and didn't know where the other end was at.
Now I remember I pulled off that hose (the one I marked with curved arrow) from two posts ago from the front of IM.
#3. As you can see in pic #2, there is a hose connected to the fresh air intake nipple. I can't find another place that the stray TCV hose goes to. There are already 2 hooked up down by the turbo.
