What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

I run on 205/70/R15 winters on my S60 (standard size for 15" is 195/65/R15). Some rubbing near the steering lock and speedometer shows -3mph at 60mph
I really like this size, even slightly taller would have still fitted inside the fender. It lifts the S60 off the ground which is the best thing in deep snow on these parking spots on the side of the street with plowed snow. The S60/V70 are actually quite low to the ground, often times got sitting on packed snow despite the winter tires.

With fresh and proper springs and shocks they're not that low. Certainly higher than most new regular cars.

Personally I go for the narrowest possible tyre for snows. With the turbo and 16" rims that's 195/60-16 as far as I've been able to tell. Narrow tyres that cut down to something solid as opposed to wide tyres that float on top. New cars and especially SUVs with 235-245 wide tyres must be terrifying in snow.

Today Betty the Volvo and a Soobie Outback went over the river and through the woods and hauled 3 good-sized xmas trees home on the roofs, on a 15 degree day. We all had frozen fingers. She did well in the snow in spite of average all-seasons. If these will just wear out, I'll get some more Blizzaks.

I just run stock sizes on another set of stock alloys for my car. Blizzaks, Great.

Which are actually still in my basement, not doing me any good.

Finally got my other Tire set on. I apparently overdressed and came back in sweating.

Changed the thermostat. Volvo deserves some well-earned credit for how easy that is to do on my V70 p2 01 2.4T. 15 minute job.
Having done a lot of work on italian cars I am pleasantly surprised.

Unfortunately they ruined it on later years when they replaced the housing with a sealed assembly.

I'm surprised Volvo doesn't make that thermostat outer housing gasket or do they? It could make thermostat changeout a whole lot easier for for those (me) with stripped T40 inner bolts, instead I had to tranfer sensor. T- stat, and gasket from new complete unit. At first I thought I'd just make an outer gasket, realized it was metal. Anybody ever replace those T40's with hex heads. I wish I had when I had the IM off for PCV replacement.

The spring for my fuel door broke a few weeks ago. I've been putting it off because I thought it'd be a hassle. Now I checked and the local auto-parts-warehouse has the whole spring assembly for $7. In stock. Guess where I were yesterday?
