Notice the wind deflector in front of the sunroof. I thought it was stock or an option, but I realized none of the other 960s seem to have it. So now, I think it may be a generic/universal add-on. Over the last few years, a gap has formed at between the base of the deflector and the roof. Maybe it had some sort of foam gasket, which has deteriorated and basically disappeared. This thing is supposed to help with wind noise on the sunroof, and I think it did that when it was fully intact. I think now it rattles, causing more noise than it resolves. I've looked for replacements, but all I can find are universals that are stick-ons, which doesn't seem very good to me. The custom ones like from WeatherTech don't have the '95 960, of course.
Questions:
1) Just curious if these were available from Volvo or if this is an aftermarket or third-party offering from a Volvo dealer.
2) More important, how do you think I could fill that gap between the roof and the deflector? The WeatherTech ones come with a rubber trim that goes along the bottom of the plastic. This has nothing like that. I'm thinking I could make some sort of gasket, but trying to figure out how I would get something to stay and what sort of material I should use.
3) Should I just remove it? The sunroof doesn't currently leak, but I'm afraid if I remove the clips that hold it in I may cause a leak--as they have been there for so long.
