As I recall you have to splice in the wiring, so get the connectors with the lights.

A while back I had made a post about trying to get the wiring diagragm. I did get it but was unable to add my own LED light because the car has 3 wires (+,-, and repeater) and the LED only has + and -. A couple times it refused to work and a couple times it made the turn signal blink fast as if there was a bulb out. How would I get the LED light strip to work with the turn signal?

I found 5 prewired (I assume suppose to be 6) harnesses. 3 are on passenger side, 2 on driver. I think in whatever accident this car had, the prewiring for driver side SML got damaged. UNLESS it's the harness in pic marked 'driver side harness' which I doubt because it goes to a plastic cylinder with hose attached. Looks like a crash cylinder actuator thingy. Please refer to all pictures.

That part inside the fender is a purge solenoid, I just pulled that piece off of my cousin's '98 V70. I had never seen one in the fender like that before!

Your car wouldn't be pre-wired for the side markers, you'll need to run the wires back for it. Just splice it into the harness for the front turn signals like in the above thread, it's pretty easy to do. You'll also need the connectors for them, which are the same as the connectors for those red warning lights on the doors. Just a basic D-shaped 2-pin.
Also make sure you tap the right wire... one is for the parking lights, the other is for the turn signal.

What if I want to use an amber LED light strip? I used them for my 01 v70, but the 98 is different because it has 3 wires not 2. Picture below...

You would hook it up the same way. You can use a multimeter or test light to determine which wire is which (meaning parking light vs. turn signal).

Power goes on which of the 3? And the negative goes on the negative I presume.

update: i found the answer on another volvo forums- the power of the LED strip will go to the blue/green on passenger side and green on driver side.

When I put the XC70 nose on my '97 850, I installed the side repeaters.



I had to splice in at the wiring at the front corner lights.

If I recall correctly, your wire colors are correct.
