Way to Test PEM?

Post by knobbynut »

Is there a way to preform a resistance test for the PEM? I'd like to confirm the PEM is bad before getting to the fuel pump. The PEM is easy to get to. It's my understanding the gas tank will need to be dropped in order to access the pump.

Sorry no. I haven't found a way to test resistance on the PEM.

See user shockwaves post in the XC90 forum on PEM troublehsooting.

There are links to the waveforms and testing methodology

A resistance test on the PEM is useless. It is a waveform generator and converts ECM signals to fuel pump drive signals. You need an o scope and s9 electronics background to troubleshoot it, or get a used one from a wreck (. $15) and swap in
