2001 C70 - key fob reprogram
Hello all. I am wondering if anyone knows how to reprogram a key fob for a 2001 C70. I know there is a certain sequence of ignition turns and button presses that will enable me to do this myself instead of taking it to the dealership. Has anyone done this and can point me in the right direction? Thank you!

I’m not sure where your 2001 C70 fits in the electronics generation but I think it’s in with my 1999 which requires VIDA to program both keys and FOBS

That works for some cars up to and including model year 1998.
1999 and onward requires VIDA, a software download and a pin number. Your options are Volvo dealer, Independent Volvo shop or authorized locksmith.

Actually, '98 also requires an interface with the car to add a fob.RickHaleParker wrote: ↑27 Dec 2019, 13:38That works for some cars up to and including model year 1998.

It's a bit simpler than the '99-'00, but does need a computer.
'97 850's were the last year for owner capable programming.
IIRC, the '99-'00 S/V 70s also need a brand new 9166200 fob that
ships with it's factory programming ID number to complete the process.
I have a funny feeling that the '99-'04 C70s are the same way.
