Solar powered electric bike-cars ELF and PEBL

Solar powered electric bike-cars ELF and PEBL might just be weird enough to work
- Jun. 4th 2018

Part bicycle and part car, these solar powered velomobiles are designed to fill an interesting niche in the personal mobility industry. With all electric-drive capabilities, working pedals, and a solar panel on the roof, these lightweight EVs are sustainable, efficient little grocery getters.

This solar electric bike/car is almost perfect, except for the price

.
.
The Wello Family solar-powered electric bike/car was just showcased at CES 2020, demonstrating how families might be able to transport kids or cargo with a much smaller carbon footprint than conventional transportation.

But with a price tag of around US$8,800 (or a bit less if you forgo the solar panel), the Wello Family demonstrates more than eco-friendly transport – it also demonstrates how pricing is still a barrier to the adoption of these funny little electric bike/cars.
*****************************

An ideal solution if in a warmer environment, close to work/etc., and roadways allow safe passage. Cheap transportation when compared to auto-vehicles, especially for younger ones paying high insurance premiums.
