Well I unplugged my TCV electrically, which should directly link the red and yellow vacuum hoses. Now I get progressive boost to about 3psi with no spikes at all. So either my new TVS is defective or my original one was defective and I didn't notice it because my wastegate actuator is not adjusted properly...

So I will have to do some searching to see what the spec is for the LPT turbo. Perhaps someone previously replaced the wastegate actuator that was meant for a T5 that is set at 4 psi?

Forgot to mention this last night, I've had dead on arrival TCVs. Which one did you buy? I recommend the correct PN Pierburg from FCP Euro or similar. I tried that gray Porsche TCV and it limited my boost to 8 PSI when I'm tuned for 16. OEM TCV is the best option for these cars.

Got my new-to-me engine for my S70 on the stand today and began tearing it down. I need to get some easy off and pick up a new pressure washer tomorrow so I can get all the oil off this thing! My old pressure washer didn't feel like running today without starting fluid, then died every time I started spraying.

Citrus based engine cleaners, much nicer on both you and Mother Nature, and you won’t roach metal if you miss a spot rinsing

Magical when I cleaned up the mess from the leaky turbo return pipe seal. Cleaned off the entire rear side of motor in one shot,

Grab that engine number off the tb cover and off the block , in case it’s swappped.

There are some parts break on these motors for which you will need the engine number

It's a B5244T, the earlier engine that was used in the 2001s. I was told it came out of a 90k-mile 2001 S60 2.4T. Same one originally in my 2000 fortunately!

Yeah, I was using Zep citrus degreaser (the aerosol) but it really wasn't doing much. I like that one for engines, nice and foamy and cuts greasy well, just not the caked on stuff like on this engine. I much prefer that to the petroleum based Gunk engine degreaser, that stuff smells nasty and I'm sure it's not too environmentally friendly. It works well enough, but I hate using it.
I think I'll scrape the heavy stuff off with a putty knife first, that way I have less of a less on the ground when I hose it down. I hate cleaning stuff like this... such a mess!

b m dubya - Unrelated to 850s, but I found a very nice 2011 E91 wagon here and sent pics to a few friends. An old friend from Seattle out of the blue said, Oh, could you go look it over and drive it for me? I did - very nice car. He flew out, spent the weekend, we scrambled to get real snow tires on it at Costco - last set of Blizzaks in that size - and he headed back. Pretty insane, and I hope everything continues to work well on it.

E91 3-series wagon. 328iX, AWD. Sport package. 17" wheels. Auto...but they live in heavy traffic. No iDrive or extra gadgets or outdated info screen. 45,000 miles! Interior looks like it was hardly used. Very well put together. Tight steering and great brakes, so solid. Glad I drove it on a dry sunny day before the storm. The last great BMW NA straight 6 engine, the N52 3.0 with magnesium block. The only things that make me nervous are electronic oil level sensors (no dipstick) and an electric water pump.

I have the last year E83 with the mechanical water pump ($80 - on its third one), next year is was N52 and electric pump and $350.

Looks pretty nice! Nicely optioned too, I definitely would not want the iDrive. I like the E91s, I would love to find a manual 335i wagon if that's a thing... I'm not sure if they made an N54 wagon though.

I've heard great things about the N52, with the obvious exception of the electric water pump and oil sensor. Much like the N54, but much more reliable!

Picked up an M66 for my V70R! This has been sitting in a junkyard S60R taunting me for a while, so I went over there today now that the rain let up and grabbed it. For $100, it's well worth it!
Still can't believe nobody took it.

Do they have that red frame for free to use at pick and pulls or if that yours and you have to bring it to the yard? I've never been to one so I'm just curious.
