REM inside wiring and relays
2005 v70 xc Rear wiper motor failed, gear stripped, bought another one on ebay. Installed and it blows fuse (# 19 on REM 15 amp) wiper worked on constant setting but when intermittent is turned on fuse blows. Unhooked wiper motor and bench tested motor, works good and then checked connector for voltage on car 12 volt on white and yellow wires. same with intermittent setting. I can hear a relay in the REM when on intermittent setting. I have wiring diagram but it does not show any relay in the circuit from the fuse to wiper motor.

Check the relays in the rear boot - also check the shunts.

Thanks again, I already have that installed on my computer but I have found nothing about the internal workings of the REM unless I am looking over it.

Okay I tried doing some digging on the wiring diagram, but I am out of practice.
One needs to look at the REM page 83/282 of the link I sent. Then back track and check all the items.
Before going any further though - a couple of thoughts. 1) with the prior motor did the car experience the same issues? If the gear was stripped the the motor should have worked, but not the wiper arm. As you added a new variable - you need to eliminate a faulty new part. Plug in the old one, and let it hang, and test it to see if it blows F19 in the same manner. 2) If it works correctly then the new part is the source of the problem - can you move over just the gear? 3) I do not see any exterior relays or shunts on the REM (but I am only pulling up pictures and looking at the diagram in the schematic (which doesn't show any exterior relays)). It is possible there are some interior relays, but you will have to open the REM and look. If it is like the CEM, it is not very difficult. 4) The intermittent issue points to an issue with the stalk button - maybe it is shorting out.
Before any more guessing - can you expand on thoughts #1 and #2?
