Steve, when an engine overheats like this one, does one ever have to be concerned about the bottom end?

Btw, I am seriously impressed by your work.

I (and my internet) don't recognize that part number for valve stem seals. You know about viewtopic.php?t=71962 right?

Ok , $16 per exhaust stud to replace, just Labour

That seems like a lot for heat and twist?

My fingers and heart were warmed by the screech of the yielding head bolts -

These things were up around 200 ft lb of torque to break them. Brothers and Sisters, get your sharp socket, six point, on WELL before pulling on these. How will I ever measure 130 degrees of angle torque, he wonders?
Took me and a friend to break those, I've never heard a sound like that before..

I got a angle gauge for like 7-10$ at a parts store

You also have to be careful to apply pure torque, not just pull on the wrench. You need to counter the pull force with a firm pressure at the socket point so that you don’t pull the socket off the head bolt and strip it

Oh how I love working on southern cars.... the studs usually drive right out with the nuts. If not, vise grips usually do the trick with a little PB blaster.
That seems like a lot, especially if there's more than one or two studs.

The head bolts on these engines are ridiculously tight... no other head bolts I've removed have been as tight as white block head bolts. They make a neat sound for sure!

Omen minute low flame. $160 less a few bad boys saved. I think most will come out easily. Kudos to Volvo for high quality steel studs.

Worst problem was getting propane to light at 16F..can I get hazard pay, Mark?

Sorry about pic quality
