my 240 speedo moves sometimes and sometimes not. when i hit a bump it wants to work then goes back to zero. any idea what the problem is? and how so you fix it?

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

The speedo sender unit is mounted in the differential housing. Check that the wiring is intact and making good contact. It may be that the terminals need cleaning as they are exposed to lots of dirt and salt.

bill, i had the speedo sender unit checked and its all good, also had the cluster checked and could'nt find anything wrong, but speedo is still the same thing as before. any suggestions on what to do next? thanks

The next thing I would check would be for continuity in the wire from the sender unit to the cluster.

You will need a multimeter or ohmmeter and, because of the distance between the two, some wire to extend one, or both, ends to get the contact you need.
