$24.5k ask for a decent M66/Nordkap 64k miles 2005 V70 R

I'm a proponent of buying P2R manual transmission cars if you love them and find one you like. But this ask is just nutty.

Pros: it's got low miles and is in decent shape. Good records. Second owner. Nordkap leather.

EDIT: Well, the first one got taken down as spam, so lets try again. I took the links out this time. Please be civil, it's just a car. If you're interested we can go through everything head to toe and come up with a price we are both happy with. There will be no surprises if you buy this car. Price is just a ballpark given the recent values.

I have been incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to own one and to learn from what I would call an extraordinary community of enthusiasts. I poured my heart and soul into this car to make it my own and to keep it in top notch condition. For this reason, I would prefer it go to another enthusiast. I’ve done my best to keep this concise but there is so much to say about this car that it has proven difficult.

Asking Price: $24,500 OBO

The Basics (and some extras):

2005 Volvo V70R in Black Sapphire Metallic over Nordkap, located in Boston

M66 Transmission (6 speed manual)

~63,700 miles

I am the second owner, the first owner was also an avid Swedespeed member.

Oil changed every 6k miles or 1 year with Castrol 0w40 (as did the previous owner but with 0w30)

93 Octane only

HUGE stack of maintenance records and receipts from the original owner and myself.

The full maintenance history since my ownership is extensive and I can send you a link to the spread sheet of the complete maintenance and mods done to the car.

I also have 100+ pics in this album highlighting the exterior and interior condition, which I can also send you the link for, if you are interested.

Everything works and there are no codes except for the mirror heaters which work intermittently because I replaced them with wide angle mirrors (no more looking over your shoulder to change lanes).

It has been garage kept for about half the time I have owned it.

I have only done slight and tasteful mods and have enjoyed the car in its mostly stock format. I was going for longevity, so no tunes/tearing the engine apart for power in my ownership.

Notable extras:

True euro headlights – for those that don’t know how coveted these are, they have a true high beam and do not have the amber reflector that the US spec headlights do. This car has the DRLs turned off but still automatically turn on at night. I can always turn the DRL back on for you if you like.

GROM USB audio and MODERN aftermarket subwoofer that uses the factory subwoofer harness and does not take up ANY trunk space or prevent the storage of a full size spare. I made a quick release harness should you ever need to use the spare wheel. As you can tell I’m pretty proud of this. (shout out to our old school expert JRL for wiring advice).

Comes with lots of extra loot including PRISTINE original headlamps and a set of anthracite 18in pegs with fresh continental DWS06, IPD track spec sway bars, factory roof rails and rain gutter strips (have to be repainted but with perfect rubber), color matched a pillar double gauge pod, and more

Disclosure:

I have a rear O2 spacer on the anodized Svenske Racing Downpipe (to my knowledge this was the first 3” DP available to the R community, turbo spool is addicting and the pipe is still in unbelievable shape). Without it you get a “Catalytic efficiency code.” Full disclosure if this matters to you.

Exterior:

The paint could use a light machine polish. I tried to highlight defects as best as possible in the photos, though it was kind of difficult. Paint is good but not perfect for its age.

There are some marks on the front and rear bumpers from people who cannot park, however the bumpers are well above average shape for being 15 years old. The body however is straight, no dents anywhere.

Interior:

Typical and slight driver’s side bolster wear. The rest of the interior is basically mint.

The rear tints could do with replacing due to age, but they work and look fine as is.

The sunroof headliner and both A pillars have been redone in black because they were sagging. The cluster cover has been redone in alcantara with royal blue stitching.

I installed a hefty(1.4 lb) blue shifter knob, feels good to hold and makes shifting smooth. Matches the gauges pretty well. Shifts are smooth also in part due to SNABB delrin shifter bushings.

Speaking of gauges, the original owner installed a cobalt autometer boost gauge, and I followed suit with water temp and oil temp gauges of the same type. They are housed in a “Ron Pod.” This setup is the most integrated and stealthy.

The steering wheel is a smooth (not perforated) T5 sport wheel, which is thicker than the stock wheel which loses its texture over time. Both stalks and vents have been upgraded to the 07 style.

As I mentioned earlier I added GROM USB integration along with a Cerwin Vega VPAS12ST which sits inside the full size spare (yes you can have your cake and eat it too). I wired it up to use the factory subwoofer wiring and made a quick release connector by cannibalizing another volvo wiring harness. This means no lost trunk space, retention of a full size spare, AND, no hassle if you have to use the spare. Just release the harness and youre good to go. If you for some reason wanted to install the factory subwoofer back in place (not sure why since this one is much better), you could. Plug and play.

Mechanically:

I have psychotically maintained this car and it is in excellent running condition. No lights (except for bulb out message because I have DRLs OFF), no codes. Car runs like a top and sounds like it too.

Important Maintenance since my ownership:

Timing belt/pullies/serp belt were done in 2013 (previous owner had this done at a dealer)

Genuine Volvo 4C front struts with new Genuine Volvo Spring Seats, Mounts, and bump stops (5k miles ago)

M66 transmission, angle gear, rear diff all drained and refilled with Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-90 ~15k miles ago.The haldex system was drained and refilled with genuine Volvo Haldex fluid. The filter and cover were replaced with updated parts as well. I did this at ~15k miles ago.

Front lower LCA bushings replaced with powerflex street (purple) bushings

Front upper LCA bushings replaced with the HD genuine volvo part for an XC70.

Rear bushings #5 and #8 were replaced with powerflex street (purple) bushings.

Front subframe bushings replaced with Kaphlenke delrin subframe bushings

Front swaybar with fewer than 30k miles (original to this car)

New genuine volvo rear sway bar

Other maintenance done only within the last year:

235/50/17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3+ on refinished 17” pegs - “winter setup”

AGM H8 battery (950 CCA), it’s massive.

Genuine Volvo SAS clockspring

Bosch PS pump

Genuine Volvo PS reservoir

PS fluid flush with CHF202

Genuine Volvo Thermostat and gasket

Bosch Leak Detection Pump

Genuine Volvo Spark plugs

Genuine Volvo Coil Packs

FAE Back up light switch

F/R genuine Volvo wipers

Coolant flush with Genuine Volvo Coolant

Genuine Volvo immobilizer antenna lock ring

Genuine Volvo gas cap and strap

Genuine Volvo fuel door hinge and spring

Genuine Volvo Sunroof guides

Mahle Air Filter

Genuine Volvo drivers side headlight glass (shipped from Germany)

Bosch front O2 sensor

Sunroof guide clips replaced (sunroof does not move by itself now)

Sunroof shade, a pillars, cluster cover re-upholstered

Brief history:

I am the second owner, the first owner was also an avid forum member Dan (Ride R), and I continued his legacy of meticulous maintenance. I bought this car from him in 2015 when it had 34k miles. Most of the 30k miles I put on this car were spent on the highway driving between NY and Boston, and to take weekend trips, I never really “daily-ed” this car. This car was MATURELY owned. I never raced, clutch dumped, or otherwise abused this car. Hell, I’ve only hit redline a single digit number of times – this is no exaggeration. She was my highway cruiser, comfortable, reliable, totally stealthy and I absolutely loved every second of it. There are no drips or leaks of any kind, the AWD is fully functional and clutch engages smoothly, as do all of the gears. There is no slop in the shifter (because of the mileage) or the shifter base (SNABB delrin shifter bushings). She boosts to the full stock ~14.7 PSI. The sounds of the turbo spool are incredible and the EST touring exhaust is aggressive but not too loud and DOES NOT drone at the standard drone range of 2500 rpm or any rpm for that matter. The 4C is fully functional. The windshield and front windows have been “tinted” with Airblue80 (installed by Joe “The Driver” from Swedespeed), it is actually a clear film and cuts the heat/UV so well that I’m not sure I’m capable of driving another car without it. It looks factory as hell and I’ve never had an issue with law enforcement. The original owner also tinted the rear windows but I am unsure of the % on them. The delrin and powerflex bushings DO NOT add vibration or stiffness, they only add to the driveability of the car. They actually made the ride less harsh, more composed, and there is no more unintended wandering, “tramlining” with imperfections in the road or extreme side-hop.

To my knowledge, this is the only M66 VR with this kind of mileage that I have ever seen for sale publicly. I think you would have a hard time finding another one that is this well sorted and cared for. If you are looking for a low mile, tastefully modified, and otherwise unmolested M66 V70R, I’m not sure it gets much better than this. If you don’t believe me come see it for yourself.

Of course, we can talk about the price so long as you are serious.

Any questions just ask. Thanks for looking.

I would click over, but Facebook is the Fatal Corona Virus for places like MVS, and I refuse to spread the disease.

He is at least 2x overpriced.

He's getting roasted on the comments on his FB post. Just roasted. It's the second go-round too. His first post, identical to this one, was flagged as spam by enough users that it got pulled down.

Given its in Boston I'm sure there is someone who would consider forking that kind of money.

Alas, that's what happens when you have so few manual P2s stateside.

Abscate,

Was your V70 M56 a conversion or factory? Seems quite a rarity for that model year.

Why people are so proud of Castrol? Here's pics of T2 engine after Castrol:

Image

See it starts to cook in cylinder #2 already?

Another T2, first 80k dealer-service with Castrol, 120k more on Amsoil SS and Red Line and numerous SeaFoam and BG109 flushes, but you still see Castrol:

Image
Image

At 80k drain port looked similar to what first engine have had.

Next picture is not mine, but this is a few years old oil catch can after Castrol 0w40, you see similarities?

Image

Castrol means death to turbo engine! The only clean Volvo engine I've seen after Castrol was B5244S, which is natural aspiration.

Now, +100 HP of T4 in this R. The guy'd better lied he used a true synthetic oil in his R.
