Buying speakers for the Volvo s60....

Post by tan1415 »

It's driving me crazy..but I can't seem to find speakers that's a fit for the Volvo.
It seems only volvo speakers will fit? Is this true?
Also my dealer told me the speaker in the front can't be placed in the back!! Is this true too?

Hope someone can help me with putting a decent soundsystem in without breaking teh bank using the original Volvo speakersytem.

the volvo stock system is rather bad. I would run a good front stage with no rear fill. Rear fill kills your image -- asuming you do a good job in the front.

The front speakers are a different size than the rear speakers, so that's why they don't fit. Volvo uses a different basket and mounting system than is standard, so it would be difficult to find any "drop-in" replacements. When I swapped out for some CDT's in my 850, I got the closest match I could, and was able to get 2 holes to line-up with the volvo holes. For components that's really all you need.

Which size did you use?
Planning to combine it with a Basslink sub.

Is it difficult to fit them? Or is it more a job for pros?

i used 5.25" components. Fitting them was very easy -- took maybe 15 minutes start to finish.
