jreed. I tried several times to do a diode test but I get no reading either way. I tried to clean the diode and the left side just lifted away from the metal tang without any pressure infact It probably burnt through and separated before I started testing/cleaning, I suspect this may be my issue.
The quality of my photos are not the greatest as the pcb is still in perfect condition around the diode (the first pic is probably the best) also I am 100% sure the capacitors have no leaks even though the pics show some sort of residue. The two forward resistors (4701 - 1501) measure within range on my dmm.
The burnt diode has the very slightest impression of the letter and number A2 on the right side which matches diode D5 perfectly.
I have no idea where to source one of these A2 diodes. Do they vary in voltages/current switching speeds? I have no idea.
Abscate, that is such a generous offer!!! I am almost certain my ECC is working as the voltages at the pins all match the service manual.
However I may still be in the market for a power stage if this diode issue doesn't bear fruit.
BTW there isn't a beach anywhere like Maracas.
Scot850, sadly my phone camera is not really up to the job.....I am sure the capacitors are not leaking but I will most certainly change them if I can get the power stage to work as I understand 26 years for a capacitor is borrowed time and then some.
Thank you so much for taking the time to help me
André
