97 850 GLT ECC Testing

Post by combatkarl »

I almost hate to bring this up with all the ECC posts on here
Is there a way to test the ECC head unit? I've got 3 units (original plus 2 junkyard units) and all do the same thing. REC and AC lights flash upon start up. Fan blows and I am able to adjust the speed. From what I can tell the dampener motors work and A/C did work briefly after a quick recharge this summer. A/C was short-lived due to bad evaporator. I recently replaced the evaporator and heater core and now am looking to sort out ECC issues.
I built the ECC coder reader similar to jreed
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 43#p251189
and BEN850
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 37&t=60660
- I checked Fuse #31 as in Ben's post
Though my code reader won't blink to read any codes - as in this post - https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =1&t=57536

This is another good post about ECC issues after evaporator replacement - though don't think mine are quite like the OPs - though I need to check the temperature sensors near the grab rails. Need to buy some "canned air." https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... p?p=335405

So is there way to test an ECC unit or all three dead? Am I missing anything?

Thank you.
